My story

[p]Thank you for taking the time to visit our Henley Mermaids Auction page. This page has been created to collect funds from successful bidders for the items sold in £ in our Charity Auction held via Zoom at 19.00 on Oct 28th 2021. If you were a successful bidder please click the Donate button above to pay for your item.[/p][p]Please see our website for details of the Zoom Auction Lots. www.henleymermaids.com/auction[/p][p]Free Registration is required to attend the Auction. To Register click here[/p][p][br][/p][p]We are the Henley Mermaids: Laura Reineke, Fiona Print, Joan Fennelly, Susan Barry and Jo Robb. We are all regular swimmers with the Henley Open Water Swimming Club.[/p][p]Following a successful swim relay of the English Channel in July 2020 (raising £35,000 for Henley Music School) we set our sights on our next ambitious challenge, a swim relay of The Bristol Channel from Illfracombe in North Devon to Swansea in Wales, aiming to be the first women only team to complete it.[/p][p]On 22nd July 2021 we made an attempt to become the first female team to swim across the Bristol Channel. Having swum 61kms, and just 4.5km from completion the tide changed, threatening safety, and the challenge was aborted.[/p][p]On 12th September, there was a gap in the wind and weather - Mermaids were ready to go, only for a storm to blow in and scupper our chances - aborted before we even arrived in Swansea. We await the next opportunity to complete the full swim.[/p][p][br][/p][p]We have decided to use our Henley Mermaids Bristol Channel Relay Challenge 2021 & the Henley Mermaids Happy Hour Auction to fundraise in collaboration with SunriseForBrainConditions.org for the following wonderful charities: Huntington's Disease Youth Organisation, Cure Parkinson's, Motor Neuron Disease Association and Multiple Sclerosis International Federation. All funds raised on this page will go directly to and will be split equally between the four charities. Funds raised will be used to provide specialist care and support to people with these conditions and their families. Funds are urgently needed and your support will greatly help these 4 worthy Brain Condition charities.[/p][p]Sincere thanks to all those who have supported us already.[/p][p]All the Charities listed above really appreciate your support.[/p][p][br][/p]
