My story

[p]** UPDATE at 6pm on the 07/05/20 we have finished! We did 3.5 miles extra in fact. [/p][p]thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are having a Paris party on Sunday to celebrate their achievements. [/p][p][br][/p][p]** UPDATE- as of 02/05/2020 we have now hit a total of 147.5miles[/p][p][br][/p][p]** UPDATE- well from being at 82 miles yesterday and aiming to be at 112 miles by lights out on the 30th April and reach our half way point was NOT easy... however WE ARE AT THE HALF WAY POINT BOTH IN TIME AND MILES! Go team holmesdale.[/p][p]** UPDATE - as of 29/04/2020 we have completed a total of 82 miles[/p][p][br][/p][p]**UPDATE - as of 27/04/2020 we have completed a total of 61.13miles. Our aim is to reach 112 miles by Thursday 30/04/2020. [img][/img][/p][p]We are a supported living home who support adults with learning disabilities/ Autism and Downsyndrome and we are Part of “Achieve Together”. We are just one of many homes in the company who support some of the most vulnerable of our communities. [/p][p]During these times (I won’t say the C- word) everyone is affected, we all miss our loved ones, and we want to give back to the NHS for all the amazing work they are doing support our country.[/p][p]Although we can’t go on holiday right now, we are going to bike to Paris. [/p][p]On bike it would be 225 miles to get to the Eiffel Tower in France. Together at Holmesdale Road we are going to bike daily over the next 2 weeks and get to our holiday destination. [/p][p]We struggled choosing charities as there are so many out there, however we have gone with “NHS Charities Together”.[/p][p]What do NHS Charities do?[/p][p]NHS Charities give over £1 million every day for the NHS so that people can stay well for longer and get better faster. Most of them focus on helping our health services to do more. From supporting research and development, to brightening up hospital environments, to donating state-of-the-art technologies and equipment, the charities raise funds and mobilise volunteers, touching lives and making a huge difference to millions of people when they are at their most vulnerable. Other NHS charities support mental health trusts, community health trusts and ambulance trusts.[/p][p]NHS Charities have a legal or formal agreement with their NHS Trust and therefore have a particular focus whereby they specifically fund activity that supports NHS patients directly. They might work with a particular hospital or NHS trust – either way you know your donations are going to help the NHS patients.[/p][p]How will funds raised by the Covid-19 Urgent Appeal be distributed among member NHS Charities?[/p][p]NHS Charities are the legal way in which each NHS Trust or Health Board can raise, manage and distribute charitable funds. Grant awards will be made to NHS Charities to enable them to provide direct financial support into their NHS Trust/Health Board Hospitals and services. Grants are being disbursed through distributions to NHS Charities in the following ways:[/p][p]COVID-19 Urgent response grants[/p][p]Social Care Partnership Grants[/p][p]Recovery Grants[/p][p]An initial substantial grant has been made equally to each NHS Charity. Subsequent grants will be made to NHS Charities based on the number of NHS employees (head count) within each corresponding Trust/ Health Board. This means that the grant amounts are distributed in a fair and equitable way across larger and smaller Trusts/Health Boards.[/p]
