Team story

[p]I am a primary school teacher and in 2014 I visited Uganda with a fantastic team of teaching professionals from the UK to work alongside teachers in Kampala and Tororo. [/p][p]During my visit there were so many things that encouraged, challenged and inspired me, but one thing that has continued to challenge and inspire me is the incredble dedication of the teachers that I met on my travels. They work so hard for little money and with barely any training. On top of this, many of them cannot afford any sort of transport and therefore have to walk to work. This is often miles across rough terrain.[/p][p]To raise awareness for these amazing people, and many like them around the world, I am going to 'WALK A WEEK IN THEIR SHOES' by walking to work for a week. This is a distance of 5 miles each way.[/p][p]All the money raised will go to a wonderful charity called DoubleMe, the charity I went with when I trained teachers in Uganda. DoubleMe is all about sharing your skills in order to help others. They regularly take teachers and physiotherapists out to East Africa to train and equip local schools – so that they can have a bigger impact on their children. For more information see: http://www.doubleme.org/[/p][p]Will you join me?[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
