Team story

[p]Who better to help us launch our fundraising page than the man himself...Mo Farah! Back in May, we met him at the first ever Special Olympics Unified Mile. We ran alongside over 400 Special Olympics Great Britain athletes, supporters, family and friends. Starting on the Mall, we finished in front of Buckingham Palace - we were made to feel very welcome and there were smiles all round...it was a day to remember![/p][p]If you can spare a little cash then please sponsor us to run the Venice marathon in October, it will definitely help us to get round on the day![/p][p]Many thanks, Jane & Alex (See more about the 2 charities we are supporting below...)[/p][p]Special Olympics GB is the largest provider of year-round, all ability, sports programmes in Great Britain and supports over 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities on a continued basis. Having volunteered a couple of times for the charity, we've seen just how much enjoyment the athletes get, not only from national and international events but also from regular coaching sessions.[/p][p] "For our athletes, excellence is personal achievement, a reflection of reaching one’s maximum potential – it is a goal to which everyone can aspire"[/p][p]Woking Strokeability are affiliated to the Stroke Association and provide support, aerobic and aqua aerobic exercise with qualified instructors as well as social events for stroke survivors and their carers. In the company of friends things can be a little easier and activity is the answer for physical and mental well-being. Winston Churchill, when asked for his philosophy on life said: “I can answer in five words – Never, never, never give up.”[/p][p] Join the fight-back [/p]
