[p]Summer 2019. Three intrepid explorers (intrepid fools) throw their very lives into chaos, by engaging in the Mongol Rally; a madcap dash from the north of England all the way to Mongolia. And then, as if driving ten thousand miles were not enough, we intend to continue, skirting the eastern side of Russia and continuing a victory route BACK through to the UK![/p][p]Finding a vehicle appropriate to traverse 1/3rd of the world's circumference and crossing three deserts and a mountain range is not an easy task, but after two less than perfect cars we managed to get our hands on the perfect car...[/p][p]A Landrover? [/p][p]At least a 4x4? [/p][p]Aircon? [/p][p]No! [/p][p][br][/p][p]We will ride inside a 1999 Skoda Felicia 1.2! [/p][p]Rally rules dictate the car must be worth less than £500, and have a puny engine. [/p][p]Now, fixing a classic car broken-down on a soviet era "road" halfway up a mountain range using only ducktape, hammer and prayers may sound like the ideal holiday, but we are actually undertaking this feat of human and mechanical endurance for a higher cause.[/p][p][br][/p][p]https://www.crisis.org.uk[/p][p]Volunteering in their kitchens, Crisis is especially close to my heart. Seeing with my own eyes the invaluable work they do and positive impact this has on so many lives. We can all work together to end homelessness. Devastating, dangerous and isolating. Pressure from high rents, low pay, losing loved ones or the breakdown of a family can all force people into homelessness. It doesn't have to be like that.[/p][p][br][/p][p]https://www.coolearth.org [/p][p]The official charity for the Mongol Rally[/p][p]In the last forty years half of all rainforest has been destroyed. The remainder contains 2/3rds of Earth's biodiversity, produces a fifth of all fresh water, a fifth of all oxygen and holds a quarter of all of the planet's biologically held carbon.[/p][p]Cool Earth aims to protect the planet's rainforests by making indigenous peoples its stewards. Placing its future into the hands of the people who live and work there. So far they have saved over two hundred million trees.[/p][p]You can help us reclaim this once laughing stock of the car industry!
