Hywel Roberts - North Wales Cancer Unit

[p][b]After travelling down to support my sister last year I quickly realised why the London Marathon is regarded as the best in the World. It's got nothing to do with the multiple iconic buildings you pass on route or the impressive medal and race pack you receive at the finishing line. But it's the overwhelming feeling when you realise the sheer amount of people that are making a difference to peoples lives by running the gruelling 26.2miles. It made me so proud of my sister and I wanted a piece of it. [/b][/p][p][b]I’ve been running for just over 18 months and have gone from completing a ‘Couch to 5k’ programme to run in 4 half marathons and have another 2 lined up before the end of the year. An achievement that would not have been possible without the continued support and friendly welcome I received from the Denbigh Harriers. The natural progression from this would be to enter a Marathon and what better way than to enter the best Marathon in the world. [/b][/p][p][b]Its an honour and privilege to raise money for North Wales Cancer Appeal. Cancer effects so many people and having lost an Uncle and Grandad to cancer I understand how cruel and hard it is for the patient as well as the family and friends to come to deal with. Hopefully I can use my position to raise awareness as well as to help make a difference. [/b][/p]
