My story

[p]Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for Walk the Thames 2019.[/p][p]Our team so far is :- Nazira Mehmari, Diana Nammi, Nosrat Fatah, Manisha Dewan, Beste Tas, Rim Mahmoud, Ferroudja Zemmour and Sara Browne[/p][p]We are walking / running to raise funds for the Iranian & Kurdish Women's Rights Organisation (IKWRO) . All funds donated through this page will be sent to IKWRO with no deduction. [/p][p]IKWRO’s mission is to protect Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls who are at risk of "honour" based violence, forced marriage, child marriage, female genital mutilation and domestic violence and to promote their rights.[/p][p]IKWRO provides direct services for women and girls, including advocacy, training, a refuge and counselling. They also provide advice and support to professionals from bodies such as the police, social services and schools to help them to understand issues affecting minority ethnic women and they campaign for better laws and their effective implementation as well as for appropriate resources to uphold the rights of women and girls and ensure their safety.[/p][p]IKWRO is short of the funds needed to carry out this vital service. [/p][p]So we are walking a half marathon along the Thames on Saturday October 19th. It will most likely be cold and at least sometimes wet.[/p][p]Please sponsor us as generously as you are able[/p][p]Many thanks for your support[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
