My story

[p]On April 22nd, I will be taking part in the 2018 London Marathon.[/p][p]I am fundraising on behalf of the charity MapAction. They are a non-governmental organisation that specialise in providing mapping for humanitarian emergencies. From the Asian tsunami in 2004 right up to the 2015 Nepalese earthquake, MapAction’s volunteer teams deploy all over the world to provide geospatial support to those in need. Before aid agencies can help in disaster situations, their first requirement is information. Which areas have yet to be reached? Where are the relief resources? Where are the people in greatest need? MapAction delivers this vital information in mapped form, from data gathered at the disaster scene. Creating a 'shared operational picture' is crucial for making informed decisions and delivering aid to the right place, quickly.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations you could provide. I really think the work that MapAction do is amazing and a vital but often unknown part of humanitarian aid. [/p][p][br][/p][p]https://mapaction.org/[/p]

Well done Iain. It was great to see you at the marathon! It was hard enough cheering in that heat, let alone running 26 miles :). What a great cause too.
