My story

[p]Hello - I’m delighted to have been chosen to represent leading Yorkshire dementia charity Lost Chord in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon. [/p][p]Lost Chord is the organisation that provides vital interactive musical experiences for people living with dementia in care homes and day centres across the region and nationally. [/p][p]Lost Chord produces more than 1,300 interactive musical sessions a year in more than 100 settings, all designed to stimulate responses from people with dementia through the media of music, song and dance. [/p][p]An estimated 25 million people, or nearly half the UK population, are affected by dementia through knowing a close friend or family member with the condition.[/p][p]More than 850,000 people are living with dementia in the UK - a number forecast to double within a generation, with 163,000 new cases diagnosed every year in England and Wales - that’s one every 3 minutes! [/p][p]It is a great honour to be selected to represent Lost Chord and I want to raise as much money for this great charity as possible. [/p][p]Yorkshire Windows is a South Yorkshire company and Lost Chord is a South Yorkshire charity so there was an immediate link between us. [/p][p]Dementia is a cause that should be close to all our hearts as it is one that affects so many families. [/p][p]“I know what great work Lost Chord is doing and it is a true honour for me to know that I will be wearing their colours on the day”.[/p]
