My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]The Task[/p][p] [/p][p]The Sutherland Trail is 70 miles across the most remote and inhospitable part of the United Kingdom. It is undertaken over 5 days. The terrain is a mixture of mountains, hills, moors, bogs and rough countryside. There are paths, stalkers trails and roads, although at one point all that disappears. The path runs from Lochinver on the north west coast of Scotland to the village of Tongue.[/p][p]All this has to be undertaken on foot. Scottish weather can be variable at the best of times, but at the worst you have to expect anything.[/p][p]The Charity[/p][p]New Futures Nepal empowers disadvantaged children and adults of Nepal by raising funds for initiatives that promote health, education and independence and supports social integration for children with disabilities to live in the community and within safe and loving homes. We adopt a ‘hands on, personal approach’, keep our administration costs low and work with local charities and organisations worldwide to facilitate the charity's goals and aims.[/p][p]I know the guys who run the charity. It is a lean organisation that depends on the work of its volunteers.  I am passionate in my support for them.[/p][p] Me[/p][p]As a sedentary middle-aged bloke, my current fitness leaves a lot to be desired. Add to that the complication that I suffer from severe depression and anxiety, the challenge is a substantial one. However I am determined to do it.  I want to raise money for a good cause, but I also want to show (again) that sufferes from this debilitating condition are able to undertake the toughest and most demanding physical tasks. In supporting me, you support the charity and the fight against the stigma of mental health problems.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
