My story

[p]I'm taking on this 320 miles in four days challenge to raise money for Wooden Spoon who do fantastic work supporting disadvantaged and disabled children.[/p][p]The most I've ever ridden in a day is 54 miles.  That was over a decade ago... and I could barely walk for the next three days let alone repeat it!  [/p][p]So this isn't going to be easy, it's going to take a lot of effort, training and no small amount of pain but I'm determined to achieve it for this very worth charity and every penny you can pledge will help![/p][p]Thank you so very much, [/p][p]Ian[/p][p]3rd April: Huge thank you to the Seven Stars Winsley for allowing me to take over their monthly quiz and kindly donating the proceeds to this great cause![/p][p]9th May: Training to date has involved 1133 miles, 4 punctures, 2 broken spindles, one comedy fall...  Onwards and upwards![/p][p]6th June: Training to date 1613 miles, 6 punctures now but the "new bike gremlins" all seem to have been sorted.  Pouring rain cycling home last night, howling winds tonight, expecting locusts tomorrow... Huge thanks to the very generous individual who donated £111 to take me over my £1,500 target.  Clocked a 63 mile ride the other day, the longest I've ever done so am feeling more confident now about the 80 mile Bike Bath on 2nd July...[/p][p]3rd July: Completed the Bike Bath event in a little under six hours, now if I can just find three spare pairs of legs for the event I'll be laughing...  Slight trepidation aside I'm very much looking forward to it and the support from so many who've sponsored me has been fantastic, I really can't thank you enough![/p][p]20th August: Just a few days to go so I'm having a couple of days off of the bike to rest before the ride.  The generosity and support from everyone has been incredible; so much so that I've been able to raise the target to £2,000 so thank you everyone, it really is very much appreciated and I know Wooden Spoon and the children who will benefit are very grateful also.[/p][p]27th August: Done!  Yes I'm pleased to say we made it, fantastic effort from all the riders, it was a brilliant (if sometimes brutal!) event, well organised and best of all we collectively made a great total which will have real benefit to a great many children and their families so thank you all for donating and sponsoring me.[/p][p]All the best[/p][p]Ian[/p]
