Team story

[p]We did it!! We ran the London Marathon. The hottest marathon on record which is fitting after a winter of extreme weather! It was incredibly hot running out there and tougher than either of us had imagined. Despite months of training, we weren't prepared for the heat, but we both made it round. We are thankful to the BBC for showing our story during their coverage, to The Sunday People newspaper for writing about us and to Radio Jackie for allowing me the opportunity to broadcast my reasons for running on Tower Bridge. We will remember this forever. Child Bereavement UK have been an incredible charity to run for and your money will really help them to continue the fabulous work they do in supporting children suffering from bereavement. Thank you so very much....[/p][p]So you may or may not have noticed that we have been doing quite a lot of running lately? Well this is all for a very good reason, and it may surprise you to know that vicky and I both have places, and plan to run all 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in 2018![/p][p] [/p][p]This has been on my bucket list for sometime, and especially following the loss of our beloved daughter Imogen, who was stillborn at term in 2010. Running 26.2 miles will be a walk in the park compared with the absolute devastation we felt (and still feel) in losing her. Her death hasn't just affected us but all three of our other beautiful children who still miss her dearly and regularly question why she died. Imogen's death came seven months after my cousin lost her beloved 6 month old son from SIDS and her family, have also been left with a very big and deeply painful hole in their lives. [/p][p] [/p][p]Child bereavement UK have been a tremendous support to our family in helping our children manage their loss in a positive and healthy way. They again proved invaluable in providing support following the loss of Vicky's mother, whom we lost two years ago to Alzheimer's. They have been an immense support to my cousin and my aunt regularly volunteers for them to help offer support to others who are struggling to cope with a bereavement.[/p][p] [/p][p]We plan to run this marathon for Imogen, as well as her cousin Edward and for Vicky's mother and in so doing we hope to support all children who are suffering from bereavement. Any bereavement is hard, it is especially hard when you are a child and can't understand. We would value any support, however little and are very grateful to you for taking the time to read our story. [/p][p] [/p][p]THANK YOU!! [/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
