My story

[p]*****EDIT 5*****[/p][p]My skydive has been rebooked for the 23rd of October 2021! Stay tuned![/p][p][br][/p][p]****EDIT 4****[/p][p]Unfortunately, due to the thick layer of cloud that was circling above the airfield on the 4th of September, my jump has had to be postponed. At 5,000ft the visibility was actually 0 metres which would have been incredibly dangerous to parachute in, and so for my own safety I will be waiting until a clearer day to do my skydive.[/p][p]But worry not, I guarantee you that I WILL be doing my skydive, I promise not to let all you wonderful people down. At the moment it is looking like mid October when I am back from University for reading week.[/p][p]Thank you all for being so understanding, unfortunately it was just something that couldn't be avoided.[/p][p]On the bright side that gives me another few weeks to get my grand total up, so please continue to share this page![/p][p]My thanks always,[/p][p]Immy xox[/p][p][br][/p][p]***EDIT 3*** Wow - what more can I say? There is still a month to go until I do my skydive, and yet the fundraising total stands (as I write this) at a phenomenal £5,070! I can only thank you all for your generosity, this is going to make such a difference. In particular I must mention Team Jules, who donated an unbelievable £3,000 in memory of their friend Jules. Also, a huge thank you to the incredible VNV Nation who saw my cover of their song 'Illusion' and decided to donate the last £414 needed to hit the £5,000 milestone. I am absolutely blown away that they even saw my version of their song, and am honoured that they decided to donate to my cause. If you missed my cover, you can watch it here:[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you all SO much. My love to you all.[/p][p]~ Immy xox[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]**EDIT 2** I am truly astonished at the support that's been shown toward my fundraiser. It is almost unbelievable that in just 7 days we have raised over £1,081 for Ewing's Sarcoma research. I am humbled by everyone's generosity and I thank you all for your donations, shares and well wishes. With over a month to go until the jump, I feel it is only right to keep the fundraiser going and see how much we can raise. Keep an eye on my social media for little projects I do in between then to keep the hype! Thank you, so much.[/p][p]~ Immy xox[/p][p][br][/p][p]**EDIT* Thanks to an overwhelming donation from Fusion Partitions, we have smashed my target of £500! So, now I have raised the game to £1,000! Let's see how far we can take this! Thank you all so much for your donations so far.[/p][p]Every £30 raised funds an hour of vital research, so this is incredible. Thank you [lt]3*[/p][p][br][/p][p]21st September, 2021 is my 21st birthday and I wanted to do something memorable, and so, on 4th September, I will be diving tandem out of a plane from 13,000ft for Liberty's Legacy, in aid of Bone Cancer Research Trust.[/p][p]In 2014, when I was just 13, I was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma; my symptoms spanned from intense bone pain that worsened at night, to numbness in my right arm and distorted pupils. This rare and aggressive form of bone cancer predominantly affects children and young adults. After 14 bouts of chemotherapy, an 8-hour surgery and proton therapy in the USA, I am humbled to be here today to be able to celebrate both my 21st birthday and being 6 years in remission.[/p][p]But others are not so lucky; after a courageous fight, Liberty Schurer sadly gained her wings in October 2017, just 2 weeks after her 14th birthday. I never had the privilege of meeting Liberty, but I can certainly empathise with what she went through. One thing that I know for sure, is that no person should have to experience what we have. Her incredible family honour Liberty's memory through a special fund in her name of which all donations go straight into Ewing's Sarcoma research.[/p][p]I have committed to this skydive to raise awareness of primary bone cancers, and to raise funds to further the research into more effective and less debilitating treatments so that, some day, more people, like Liberty, can survive this terrible disease.[/p]
