My story

[p]This our fourth London Legal Walk as a team at INQUEST and we are keen to raise as much money as we can to support families bereaved as a result of a death in statutory settings, whether it is in detention, in mental health settings, or as a result of multi-agency failings, such as with Grenfell Tower.[/p][p]Our team so far is: Remy Mohamed, Sarah Uncles, Mo Mansfield, Natasha Thompson, Bola Awogboro, Selen Cavcav, Lucy Mckay, Cyrilia Davies Knight, Daniel Machover, Deb Coles, Jennifer Nadel, Ali Cloak and Becky Randel[/p][p]We are walking with the Lord Chief Justice and thousands of lawyers who are raising funds for legal charities in and around London[/p][p]Our team is INQUEST and all funds raised through this webpage will be donated to INQUEST with no deduction.[/p][p]“Thank you most sincerely for kindling the flame that led the NHS trust to finally answer our questions. You have been a real backbone when we have felt like crumbling.” -Bereaved mother[/p][p]INQUEST is the only charity combining specialist support for bereaved people following a state related death, with the influence to achieve change in legislation, policy and practice. For over 35 years we have been the driving force behind improvements in the investigation and inquest process and the support offered to bereaved people.[/p][p]Our specialist casework includes death in prison and police custody, immigration detention, mental health settings and deaths involving multi-agency failings or where wider issues of state and corporate accountability are in question.[/p][p]Founded in 1981, we campaign alongside families and others to access the truth, hold those responsible to account and effect meaningful change to prevent future deaths.[/p][p]INQUEST provides expertise on contentious deaths and their investigation to bereaved people, lawyers, advice and support agencies, the media, parliamentarians and policy makers.[/p][p]“I would like to express my thanks for the work INQUEST does so valiantly on behalf of bereaved families. If you were not present, there would be such a gap in the process that you would have to be created.” – Peter Thornton, Chief Coroner (2012-2016)[/p][p]Please support our walkers as generously as you are able. All the money we raise will go back into high quality casework and our work for systemic change.[/p][p]Thank you[/p]
