My story

[p]Stonehouse Youthworker takes on Gaming Marathon to raise awareness of youth loneliness and raise funds for The Door Youth Project[/p][p]Inspired by the Red Cross’s #GamingForGood movement, local Stonehouse Youthworker Isak Sandgren-Clarke is gearing up for a mammoth day (and night!) of gaming. Starting at 6am on Saturday 6th March and streaming LIVE on The Door’s Facebook Page and YouTube Channel until 2am the next morning, tune in for Isak’s Gaming Marathon in aid of local charity The Door Youth Project.[/p][p]Playing everything from Among Us, Fortnite and Fall Guys to Pokemon and Fifa Isak will be joined by special guests throughout the day to cheer him on and keep him on his toes during his 20 hours of gaming.[/p][p]Isak says: “the last 12 months have had an impact on us all, and at The Door we know that when it comes to offering support there is no ‘one size fits all’ way to help people deal with what life has thrown at them. Recently we've found more and more young people finding their communities in online spaces, whether it is the videos they watch, the groups they follow, or the games they play, young people are being shaped by the online environment they are in.[/p][p]As a youthworker I set out to be a positive role model to the young people we support, whether in youth clubs, in schools or in the community. Their online community should be no different.[/p][p]As well as raising funds for The Door I’m doing this challenge to remind young people that even in these times of lockdown and social-distancing that there is still somewhere they can come together. Gaming gives them a safe space to engage with friends, socialise and have fun with others, even when we are apart.”[/p][p]And how does Isak feel about the challenge ahead of him?[/p][p]“It’s going to be tough and I’m not sure how good my moves will be by the twentieth hour but I am really looking forward to it. Please do tune in and watch along as I try to maintain my sanity! I’ll have the youthwork team and special guests joining me along the way I'm sure there will be plenty of banter to keep our spirits high.[/p][p]And of course if you can, please make a donation to The Door to help me reach my fundraising target of £500. You could sponsor me for every hour I complete every goal I score and battle I win (or lose!). Your donations will go straight towards making sure we can give the best possible support to young people and their families as we all adapt to the new normal that lies ahead.”[/p][p]Find The Door on Facebook @TheDoorStroud or search The Door Youth Project on YouTube[/p]
