My story

[p]On the 17th October Danny Leonard, who served with 45 commando Royal Marines for 6 years including a tour of Afghan, a good friend of Tim, is taking on the impressive journey across the UK from John O'Groats to Lands End Penzance on foot. Aiming to complete 40 marathons over 45 days whether it be running, hiking, walking Danny will be covering the three peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden… the task at hand (or should I say foot) is not only inspiring but an astonishing test of strength, mental agility and determination. Danny is undertaking this massive challenge as charities are currently restricted or unable to host typical events that raise funds & allow them to deliver services[/p][p]Danny, a friend of Tims' for many years and was out with him on the evening he passed away is not only taking this on as a personal challenge but to raise awareness and crucial funds for this charity very close to his heart, the Tim Cogley Cardiac Screening Foundation. [/p][p]On 9th April 2017, Tim Cogley, an apparently fit and healthy 34 year old, suffered a fatal heart attack whilst walking home after a night out with friends. Despite showing no symptoms, Tim had a 75% cholesterol blockage of the left descending coronary artery.[/p][p]Sadly, Tim’s case is far from unique. We hear of similar cases among young men and women on a weekly basis. The Tim Cogley Foundation has been set up by family and friends in Tim’s memory with the aim of increasing awareness of the need for coronary heart screening, particularly in the 18 to 39 age group where very little pro-active screening currently takes place. So far the charity has raised more than £96,000 to help support free screenings for people within this age bracket and to date saving the lives of multiple people across Merseyside.[/p][p]The main aim of the charity is to roll this screening out to all 18 – 39 year olds. They also aim to educate people of all ages about key health indicators in the hope of ensuring that more young people are aware of the lifestyle choices that can affect the health of their hearts.[/p][p]With thanks to the businesses and individuals all doing their bit to support Danny on his journey from sponsoring accommodation, health screenings, clothing and equipment, press, right through to branded support vehicles (which we would love for you to snap if you see whilst on route #JOGtoLE) We are all so thankful for all the support so far but need your help with much more to help us get to our target of £10k.[/p][p]All this support puts the event in a great position to get the event started but we ask for you to join us in sharing the event when and where you can, following the hashtag #JOGtoLE to join us on route and most importantly donate whatever you can.[/p][p]If you are interested in supporting or sponsoring any aspects of the journey, joining in any of the hikes up the 3 peaks or want to offer support in any way... please get in touch with justine@revolutionfour.co.uk[/p][p]Thank you to business involved so far:[/p][p]· Revolution Four Digital Marketing Agency[/p][p]· Radio Wirral Playing the Wirral's best music[/p][p]· Runners Hub [/p][p]· Wirral Life Magazine[/p]
