My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=font-family: Arial, sans-serif;][lt]span style="color: #990099;"[gt]Can you imagine being 17-24yrs old or perhaps you are in that age category. Fit &healthy doing all the sport you want .Going out clubing starting ,university .When you begin feeling unwell with a flu like illness you go to bed & the next time you wake up :[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]Your surrounded by machines in a strange place , The ends of you fingers hurt so much you look at your hands .Where there once was fingers there a black alien looking things .Where you once had nails there are open rotting wounds. The smell is disgusting. But that’s not all .There is a terrible stench coming from the lower end of your bed. Oh no its your feet they are wrapped in bandages which are seeping with fluid. They are just a mass of open festering wounds as well The pain is unbearable .The drugs just keep numb & make you feel sick.[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]you look at yourself in a mirror .On no all that beautiful hair has fallen out your completely bold at the back . [/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]You have a catheter embarrassing cannot even pee for yourself ! But when it comes out that’s when the real embarrassment begins you are incontinent for a while you have to ask a nurse to go with you every time you need to go to the toilet . Someone has to help you wipe your bottom & to clean you up .[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]The weeks move onto months you get out of hospital hurray ! Rehab some way back to normality . But the only thing that can be offered is a rehab unite full elderly stroke patients some who have dementia. Your the youngest by at least 40years the staff are not used to dealing with young people . You feel so alone. Desperate.[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]The wounds on feet just will not heal . Your finger nails have long gone but that’s the least of you troubles now. The consultant wants to “save as much of your legs as he can but the results in several amputations. With each surgery you hope pray that it will be the last & that the pain will go & the skin will heal . In the end you end up with one leg with an above the knee & the other through the foot amputation. But at least you can get mobile now ,a prosthetic limb.[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]This nightmare must be over now surely .? But no 3 years have passed & now your told you need a hip replacement !![/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]How to you get thorough this ?Your emotionally & psychological exhausted. Your family support your family are amazing .But they are in bits too .Where is the professional support.? Who do you turn to who does the family turn to ? The only real support out there is from charity.[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #990099;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt]What I have just described is not a base for a Hollywood Movie. This is about someone I know . Who [/span][lt]/span[gt][span=color: #009933;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt][lt]span style="font-size: medium;"[gt][b]survived [/b][/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][i][span=color: #ff420e;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt][lt]span style="font-size: medium;"[gt][lt]span style="font-style: normal;"[gt][b] Meningococcal septicaemia[/b][/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/i][span=color: #ff420e;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt][lt]span style="font-size: medium;"[gt][b]:[/b][/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][span=color: #ff420e;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt][lt]span style="font-size: medium;"[gt][b] [/b][/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][span=color: #ff420e;][lt]span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"[gt][lt]span style="font-size: medium;"[gt][b]Please give what you can to combat & support the people who have suffered this terrible illness.[/b][/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p]
