Merlin and Jade's half marathon madness

[p]In a moment of madness back in October we signed up for the Cambridge half marathon, despite having never run more than 10k. It's proving harder than we expected to drag ourselves out to train through bad weather, darkness and winter bugs. We decided that if we are going to suffer then something good should come from it![/p][p]Jade's mum has advanced Alzheimer's disease; you can read about how it has affected her family [url=http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/earlyonset-alzheimers-the-mum-i-know-has-gone-9398900.html]here[/url]. It's a devistating and terminal condition which is currently robbing 830,000 people in the UK of their cognitive and bodily functions one by one. Familes see their loved ones become a shell before their eyes.[/p][p]We are fundraising for [url=http://www.alzheimersresearchuk.org/]Alzheimer's Research UK[/url], Europe's leading dementia research charity. They fund pioneering research to find preventions, treatments and ultimately a cure for dementia. They have made huge strides towards this goal in the past twenty years and with our help the cure will be found sooner. [/p][p]Just £20 pays for one hour of ground-breaking research. Just think of it as health insurance, as we're the generation who are going to need that cure in thirty year's time![/p][p]It's Merlin's first time asking for sponsorship so please dig deep and support him. It's Jade's 30th birthday in February and she's asking people to donate to this page instead of buying gifts. We will also be ebaying some of our unwanted stuff to raise a few more pounds.
