[p]TEAM 4 Mia[/p][p]In May this year, myself and three Mountain Biking friends (aged 47 to 55) will tackle our biggest cycle challenge to help raise funds for the Mia Pyari Fund by riding the Birmingham Velo Road Race. This cycling challenge is to complete a ride of 100 miles. Currently, our weekly ride averages 20 miles and our occasional “big ride” is about 35 miles, so this is going to take some serious effort and training over the next 3 months.[/p][p]My friend’s daughter Mia was diagnosed with Infantile Leukaemia in July 2017 at the age of 7 months. She had just started nursery, meeting new friends and having fun. Within a moment their whole lives changed with this news. It felt like a bomb had exploded within their world. Being an infant, Mia had to be treated as an inpatient, so as her parents they spent the next subsequent 9 months living at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Oncology & Haematology ward, taking turns each night to stay with Mia, nursing her through gruelling chemotherapy program. Mia learned to crawl, stand and walk while staying in hospital and celebrated her first birthday, Christmas, New Year’s Day there.[/p][p]Mia still has a very long road of maintenance treatment at home.[/p][p]Having seen what Mia and her parents have gone through and still do every day with her ongoing treatment. This is to help raise funds for research into infantile acute lymphoblastic leukaemia with the support of Children with Cancer UK’ Charity.[/p][p]We really appreciate any donations, large or small. Thank you![/p][p]James Aust[/p][p]Mark Freemantle[/p][p]Steve Turner[/p][p]Wayne Lucas[/p][p][br][/p][p]Every day 12 families in the UK receive the devastating news that their child has cancer. Through funding vital specialist research, Children with Cancer UK has done everything in its power to give these children the best chance to survive. [/p][p]With your support Children with Cancer UK can fund over 60 research projects across the UK accelerating breakthroughs to help drive up childhood cancer survival rates and find kinder, more effective treatments to reduce long-term side effects. This ground breaking research saves children's lives and would otherwise go unfunded. [/p][p]Knowing treatment can be especially challenging for family life, Children with Cancer UK also helps fund patient family accommodation near hospitals so families can stay together during their children's treatment. We also organise unforgettable days out for children and their families to create memories that will never be lost. [/p][p]But we still have so much more to do. A single child dying from cancer is one too many. With your support, we are helping to create a future in which every child with cancer survives and experiences the life changing moment when they ring the end of treatment bell.[/p][p]Thank you for helping to save the lives of children with cancer and keep families together.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Children with Cancer UK. [/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
