My story

[p]http://www.sponsorjim.co.uk/[/p][p]Jim will be competing for the 8th time at the Marathon Des Sables in 2020 and each time he has raised significant sums for a variety of worthy causes. His 2020 entry is devoted to raising money for Walking With The Wounded which supports those who have served in the Armed Forces and their families, empowering them to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities.[/p][p]Jim was brought up in the military family his father serving for 24 years before settling down in Dover at a time when it was very much a military town. Jim, therefore, had no hesitation in joining the Walking With the Wounded team in attempting to raise £250,000. Every race Jim has entered has been entirely self- funded, so every penny donated has gone to his chosen charity.[/p][p]Jim is well known in his home town of Dover as a successful entrepreneur and a supporter of many local and not so local causes and charities. In recognition of his many social and service commitments a few years ago he was awarded the accolade of being made a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of South Foreland, the highest award that can be given to an individual (other than Life Membership) by a Rotary Club and last year (2018) he was given the honour by Dover Town Council of being made an Honorary Freeman of the Town in recognition of his many activities for the benefit of other people. He is a man dedicated to supporting and contributing to worthy causes.[/p][p]In Jim’s quest to deny ageing he will be once more attempting to complete the great Marathon des Sables. Each year he has indicated he would be competing for the last time and 2020 may well be the year in which this becomes a fact. There can be no better reason for supporting his 2020 entry so do please consider a donation, large or small, in the knowledge everything raised will be solely for Walking With the Wounded.[/p]
