My story

[p]Family & Friends,[/p][p]Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! The time has come. After years of cheering others on to achieve this daunting feat, talking about how one day I'd give it a shot and trying numerous times in the ballot (only to be relieved at not getting a place!), I am finally running the London Marathon. Once again rejected by the ballot, I decided this must be a ‘sign’. I need to put all the efforts of completing 26.2 miles into something of value, something that could benefit many others and not just a personal challenge. I set about thinking, researching and looking up what charity I would most want to fundraise for and, since becoming a dad, I couldn’t look past running for a charity that supports improving the lives of vulnerable and disadvantage children so they have a better chance in life, to fulfil their potential.[/p][p]I am running for The Children’s Society - www.childrenssociety.org.uk – a charity that works tirelessly everyday to tackle child poverty, disadvantage and neglect and strives to ensure every child gets the opportunity to the greatest possible chance in life. Because they believe no child should feel alone, and I do too.[/p][p]The Children’s Society works with these young people, step by step, for as long as it takes. They listen. They support. They act. But their work is only possible with the help of people like you and I. Only together can we make a difference to the lives of children now and in the future.[/p][p]If you would like to support me in what will no doubt be a painful endeavour but more importantly support The Children’s Society to continue the amazing work they do, please donate here on this page. A huge massive thank you to all of you who do, I am extremely grateful.[/p][p]To find out more about the incredible work The Children’s Society does take a look at - www.childrenssociety.org.uk/what-we-do [/p][p]Now I’ve just got to get those countless miles in over the next few months and make it to the start line – would be awesome to see some of you there, along the route or at the finish line (if I make it!) on Sunday, 28th April.[/p][p]Thank you![/p][p]James[/p]
