My story

[p]This is my world record attempt to inspire 1,000,000 young people while raising funds for two charities: Kindled Spirit, who support and rehabilitate young victims of human trafficking and slavery; and Over The Wall, who run residential activity camps for children with serious health issues.[/p][p]On 31 March 2019, I embarked on an attempt to set a world record by becoming the first person to circumnavigate the world in a Gyrocopter, travelling 37,000 km.[/p][p]I set off from Popham Airfield in Hampshire on a trip that will take me through France, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and into Russia. I will then cross the Bering Straits to Alaska, and travel across Canada, the USA, Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands before heading back to the UK.[/p][p]I will need to cover a distance of 37,000 kilometres to break the world record according to regulations set out by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, who govern all aviation records.[/p][p]I’m passionate about helping young people. My plan is to visit a school in every country I fly across, sharing stories of fun and adventure, with the aim of leaving every young person with the belief that they can achieve their goals and dreams.[/p][p]I’m delighted to have the opportunity to support two amazing charities as part of this project. Their focus on helping young people to thrive and overcome huge challenges is very close to my heart.[/p][p]You can keep track of my progress here: https://share.garmin.com/CaptainKetch This brilliant tracker will show you where I am right now, as well as my speed and distance travelled.[/p][p]Thanks for your support![/p][p]James[/p][p][br][/p]

I have loved following your journey. Your route must have been so beautiful all the way, especially Greenland. Having ridden out the storms I see that you may have a weather window on Wednesday. Good luck and welcome back to Blighty.
