My story

[p]A massive thank you to all who sponsored me for what is now part one of the Marathon challenge, with Covid meaning the London Marathon got delayed 6 months then went virtual, it feels like a long time coming but yesterday I completed 26.2 miles round Horley. My legs are regretting it today a bit!! [/p][p]For those that don’t know I was running on behalf of Friends of Langshott (FOL) who are doing an amazing job raising money to provide state of the art sports facilities and support extra Curricular activities for Langshott Primary school. Covid and the challenges of 2020 have highlighted just how important both physically and mentally, sports and games are for children so please, please join me in helping FOL with this amazing cause.[/p][p]The Virtual Marathon was a unique experience especially as I only found out on Thursday I was a confirmed runner Training hasn’t exactly gone according to plan Im sure most athletes prep with a couple of heavy nights out!![/p][p]Running a Marathon with crowds cheering and thousands of others runners around the streets of London is tough enough, doing it on your own in the rain around Horley is even tougher!! [/p][p]A massive thank you to those who spoke with me and messaged me during the run your words kept me going, when I really didn’t think I could complete 26 miles. On Sunday i ran to support FOL and this great cause, but also in memory of my amazing sister-in-law Charlotte Kakebeeke, who lived her whole life working with people who often said "I can’t" and spent her time changing their mind-set to "I Can". Charlotte a proper runner herself, gave me loads of advice and training plans, including what to eat and drink (not sure she would have approved of my pre-race red wine and Dominoes mind!) without a doubt when it got tough yesterday thinking of Charlotte's mentality and the way she lived her life got me to the finishing line![/p][p]So what next????[/p][p]Part one of the challenge is done and now i intend to take advantage of the Covid delay and actually raise more money in the run up to next years race. This time i will train properly for a time, the aim being a sub 4 hour race . To help with the training once we get into 2021 i plan to run the distance between Lands End and John O’Groats 874 miles!!! [/p][p]I know there are a lot of great causes out there but anything you can give is much appreciated by myself and all at Friends of Langshott!!![/p][p]Thanks again to everyone for all your support!![/p]
