My story

[p]ME/CFS is an illness more misunderstood than any other. Yet most people seem to know someone whose health has been devastated by this illness, often starting as a teenager or young person, with long term unmet needs, seemingly being overlooked.[/p][p]There are very limited resources in the NHS for the treatment and care of people with ME/CFS. The ME Trust is the only charity dedicated to providing medical care for people with ME, which is why I doing a sponsored Skydive to support the growing work of The ME Trust.[/p][p]I worked as a village GP for 28 years, journeying alongside many families struggling over that time. Then I had the privilege of "joined up working" at Burrswood Hospital, where a team of Counsellors, Physios, Chaplains and Nurses offered love, care and expertise to many people with ME/CFS. In that caring environment, where all aspects of a person's health and 'being' were acknowledged, amazing advances in people's health were often witnessed.[/p][p]The ME Trust continues to offer that 'whole person care' for those suffering ME/CFS, and their carers and families, through a combination of telephone consultations, home visits and outpatient clinic in East Sussex which opened in 2018. I help manage the clinic in my role as Clinical Governance lead.[/p]

Well done Jane, having taken the plunge out of a plane myself a few years ago I know what an amazing experience skydiving is, but it does take a certain amount of bravery, all for a cause you obviously passionately believe in though!
