[p]In May 2021, I will be undertaking a mammoth cycling challenge of 335 miles from Phoenix, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada in aid of the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) and the over 10,000 people they support. Over a week, myself and a team of keen amateur cyclists will cycle through the Grand Canyon National Park, past Hoover Dam and around Lake Mead to reach our final destination, Vegas.[/p][p]Some of our journey will be an uphill battle with taxing climbs of up to 1,664m followed by lengthy descents through the rolling terrain. We'll contend with high altitudes, difficult landscape and birds of prey to accomplish our challenge.[/p][p]This challenge will be no easy feat for a group of amateur cyclists but it is the cause which makes the feat so worth it. The EIC is an industry charity specifically for industry people. This means that whatever you may need or problem you may have as long as you have worked in the sector for 3 months the charity can support you. The EIC have been responsible for rolling out mental health resources to our workplaces and championing a positive working culture within our field. The charity offer counselling sessions, psychiatric assessments, rehabilitation facilities, specialist care programmes and can help with return to work initiatives.[/p][p]The charity award financial grants to struggling apprentices, families, pensioners and employees. Food vouchers, school uniforms, TV licenses all are funded by the EIC to those in our industry who need a helping hand. More than this the EIC are a listening ear. They provide a seven day a week, free and confidential hot line service to our industry whenever they may need it. How does the EIC do all of this? Through donations from individuals and corporations.[/p][p]I'm asking if you can donate to my challenge and support the work the EIC do. Any amount makes a difference and your support is so valuable to our sector - all of the proceeds the Electrical Industries Charity receive go directly back into the industry.[/p][p]Thank you for your donation and I can't wait to tell you all about my adventure on Route 66.[/p]
