[p]Here I go again! [/p][p]Having run the London Marathon Virtually last year, my wonderful chosen Charity, Dyscover, have been kind enough to let me carry over my previous place to this years 'actual' London Marathon on Saturday 3rd October 2021.[/p][p]Although I fundraised for them last year, I would very much like to see if I can raise a little bit more for them - having been hit hard by the pandemic, many charities need our support now more than ever.[/p][p]Dyscover is a small charity local to me who provide long-term support and opportunities to people with aphasia and their families.[/p][p]Aphasia is a communication disability that is caused by damage to the language processing centres of the brain, most commonly through stroke. It can affect the ability to speak, read, write and understand what’s being said and is a very frustrating and isolating condition. Aphasia can be mild or severe, depending on the type and extent of damage to the brain. It is one of the most enduring consequences of stroke and can be the most difficult to overcome.[/p][p]This charity is particularly close to my heart having lost my wonderful Dad to a stroke. So, if alongside raising money for Dyscover, I can raise awareness of the devastating effects of a stroke and the importance of spotting the signs early (see below), then for me, running the London Marathon will be even more worthwhile.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you.[/p]
