My story

[p]EDIT/UPDATE[/p][p]With the Marathon currently postponed from the original date of April 26th 2020 to October 4th 2020, with all the training I had already put in, I decided to do my very own lockdown marathon at 5.30am on 26.4.20 (so as not to break any rules i.e not seeing a soul!) It was extremely hard staying motivated whilst running on my own, I missed the support of the crowds & there were many more hills than there would have been in London. Continuing my training & eventually running the distance did give me a focus & a chance to honour my amazing sponsors (big thanks for sticking with me!). So, one marathon is already in the bag - bring on the real one![/p][p]After having a major operation in 2017, my health & fitness could have gone either way. I decided that after a year of recupurative pilates, it was time to get back in the saddle & start running again. After 2 years of hitting the gym & entering various races, ranging from 5km-21km, it feels like the right time for a new challenge, the once in a lifetime opportunity to run the London Marathon. 5 stone lighter with massive determination, this is an endurance test I'm really going to enjoy.[/p][p]My chosen charity - BAFTA Kids [/p][p]As an active BAFTA member for the past 25 years, I've attended regular screenings & events, & voted yearly (with a bit of celeb spotting here & there). It wasn't until I had my 3 children that I realised just how amazing the charitable work is that BAFTA provides. I thought BAFTA was just an organisation that rewarded & celebrated excellence through its high-profile awards ceremonies, I was totally unaware of the breadth of its charitable work. [/p][p]Below are just some of the events that your donations will support:[/p][p]A series of special children’s hospice screenings throughout the UK for children with life-limiting conditions & their families, offering them the opportunity to spend quality time together, away from the stresses placed on them as a result of their child's illness, in a safe space where they can feel comfortable, without any concern that their presence might disrupt other cinema goers.[/p][p]The BAFTA Kids Roadshow in partnership with children’s mental health charity Place2Be, takes a full day’s programme of masterclasses & workshops, along with some famous faces from the world of children’s media, out into schools in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.[/p][p]The Big Schools Day at Alexandra Palace, which in 2020 will bring together over 700 children from Years 5, 6 & 7 to discuss issues such as diversity & young people in the media, transferable skills, mental wellbeing, climate change & sustainability.[/p][p]Finally, a big thank you for supporting me ❤[/p]
