My story

[p]Update as at 17 September: I'm now up to 20 miles - albeit I did have to walk a few miles at the end of that training run (it was hot and I hadn't been well so hopefully I will make it further on the day!). The long runs are all done now and I'm looking forward to tapering over the next 2 weeks and getting ready for the big day. The support from everyone who has donated has been incredible and knowing how much money has already been raised for OYF will really help to motivate me to get round. [/p][p][br][/p][p]I have always wanted to run the London Marathon and have been applying for a place in the ballot for many years. I always thought if I got a place I would run for Ollie and I'm delighted to finally be able to do so and to raise vital funds for paediatric brain tumour research.[/p][p]The Ollie Young Foundation was launched in memory of Ollie (Thomas’ classmate) who lost his fight against an incurable brain tumour one day before his sixth birthday and only twelve weeks after first displaying symptoms. There was no available treatment for Ollie, no cure and no hope.[/p][p]Since it's creation the foundation has raised over £440,000 and funded vital research and support for families. You can read more about how your donations will be spent here:[/p][p]The Ollie Young Foundation[/p][p]Those who know me well know that, despite being fit and active, I find running really hard and it is not something that I particular enjoy. At the start of my marathon journey, back in April, my running amounted to 5km at parkrun once a week and not much more. I have been running 3 times a week since starting my training and hit a milestone last weekend, when I ran the Thorpe and Egham half marathon. My time was 2 hours and 43 minutes which is an indication of how tough the marathon distance is going to be for me. However I am determined to make it round, however long it takes, and your donations will really help to spur me on when the going gets tough. [/p][p]Thank you in advance for your donations and your support. [/p][p][br][/p]
