My story

[p]I am not a runner! Yet I was given the privilege to run the April 2020 London Marathon, and then the October 2020 race. COVID got in the way of that so I thought my running days were on hold! I needed some[/p][p]form of closure to all of the hard work I’ve put in sooooo, I’ve signed up for the Virtual marathon 2020! My marathon glory day is back on track! [/p][p]To give you a little history into my journey! [/p][p]I was chosen to run the London Marathon for my beautiful Goddaughter Caitlin's charity East Kent Strokes. This is my biggest challenge to date. Caitlin and her family have many challenges everyday. [/p][p]At 2 months Caitlin was diagnosed could with a heart murmer and had her first open heart surgery at 4 months. Since then she had many more surgeries, including the fontan procedure when she was nearly 4. 6 months later she had a stroke and has been supported by East Kent Strokes ever since.[/p][p]Aged 13 Caitlin had another stroke whilst awaiting for a tooth extraction. Whilst in hospital they discovered she had total heart block, lasting at times for 9 seconds, where her heart completely stopped beating. She had a pacemaker fitted but unfortunately, aged 14, is now in heart failure again and is on the Heart transplant list.[/p][p]Caitlin is the most determined person I have ever met and I am truly honoured to be able to give something back. She has the most amazing outlook and can do attitude and I want to push myself completely out of my comfort zone, whilst raising funds to help this amazing charity support other local family's in the area. [/p][p]As its a family affair, my amazing kids are all doing fundraising activities to help keep me on track. Will be keeping you up to date with their amazing events. [/p]

Good luck Jodie. You are running for great cause. My nephew had a heart transplant when he was very young and it's a worrying time indeed. I wish your goddaughter all the very best and hope for a positive outcome for you all. Fiona xx
