My story

[p]In 2016 my wife Estelle was dealt a devastating blow, as she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She was playing badminton and her eyesight went funny. The opticians couldn't find anything wrong which led to a visit to the GP followed by an emergency MRI. It was confirmed that the problem was Optic Neuritis. What's that? In 50% of cases Optic Neuritis is a symptom of MS. Estelle was referred to a neurologist and an MRI scan showed lesions in her brain and subsequently her spine. Estelle has the most common form of MS, known as Relapsing Remitting. This basically means it comes and goes without much warning, has different symptoms and is unpredictable. As it stands there is no cure for MS but with medical research new drugs are emerging. Estelle was very fortunate to be offered a Disease Modifying Treatment called Lemtrada, an expensive drug administered intravenously. This treatment helps reduce relapses. I did say no more Marathons after a skiing accident 2 years ago and I really meant it, but I feel I must hobble around the most famous Marathon in the world to try and do my bit to support MS Trust. [/p][p]We would be really grateful if you would support our fundraising efforts by donating via the link.[/p][p]Many thanks[/p][p]Joe & Estelle[/p]
