My story

[p]Feeling cooped up? Then why not join us to run and walk the length of the country to raise funds for the NHS ? 🌈 [/p][p]We’re calling it the JOGLE-ATHON for the NHS and it’s a virtual relay event.[/p][p]Thank you so much for supporting us and please come and follow our virtual relay journey down the country as it unfolds at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/402948753678395/[/p][p]You can find out more by going here: https://therunninggranny.co.uk/[/p][p]What exactly are we doing?[/p][p]To do a JOGLE is to travel from the top to the bottom of Great Britain between John O’ Groats and Land’s End, a distance of 1345km. [/p][p]I’m Angela, aka The Running Granny, and along with my sister, Julia we want run and walk the equivalent of 1345km in our gardens or close to home but we need your help as we can’t do it on our own. We’d like you to share our journey with us - and we hope you’ll join in and do a few kilometres so that we can give our legs a rest . 🤗🤗💪💪[/p][p]How will it work?[/p][p]We’ve divided the 1345km route into 5km segments. I will run and walk the first few segments then hand the baton to Julia. We’d like you to sign up too and take part – you can run, walk, hop, skip or jump as many segments as you like. Every 5km that you do is 5km that we don’t have to! 💪🏃🌈👍[/p][p]Maybe this is an opportunity for those who’ve trained for a race that’s been cancelled to put that training to the test? Maybe you’re missing your parkrun and could do a 5km segment to help us out with this?[/p][p]Why are we doing this?[/p][p]One important reason is to raise much needed funds for NHS Charities who are working harder than ever to support the NHS but also those in the community that have been so badly affected in different ways by the impact of COVID-19. It would be absolutely fabulous if you were able to sponsor us in this challenge.[/p][p]Second, is that while we’re all staying at home to protect the NHS and save lives now, we’d also like to start the conversation about what we can do after the current COVID-19 crisis to help protect the NHS to save lives for future generations. Glad to support your initiative Angela . I am sure you will have opened peoples minds to the messages and thoughts you have shared . As a LE JOG walker (no running in heavy boots!) I have much admiration for your stamina.
