My story

[p]Hi, I’m Johanne,[/p][p]In 1996, my husband was diagnosed with CKD and after a steady decline of his kidney function we were told he needed a kidney transplant. I had all the tests done to see if I would be a suitable donor. The tests came back positive all the consent forms were signed so we would be ready for the operation to go ahead when his levels dropped. [/p][p]We got the call to say the transplant could go ahead and on Friday 29th March this year I had the honour of donating my left kidney to him. The operations were both successful and we are both on the road to recovery.[/p][p]I have always wanted to run the London marathon, I have now gained a place in the 2020 marathon and I thought this is a great way to raise money for Kidney Research UK a charity close to both our hearts. [/p][p]Hopefully in the future, research can help people who suffer with kidney disease. Every day 19 people in the UK develop kidney disease which results in dialysis or waiting for a transplant.[/p][p]Thanks in advance for your kind donations.[/p]
