My story

I am running the London marathon in April to raise money for the National Brain Appeal. I am sure you all agree that brains are important to our nation; but the charity means something to me because my father died of a brain tumour a couple of years ago.

You can find out more about the chartiy http://www.uclh.nhs.uk/aboutus/Campaignsandcharities/NHDF/Pages/Home.aspx

As you may know, I've run several marathons before (6 I think) but this will be the first time I run for charity. So please give 6 times as much as you would otherwise.

Virgin Money Giving assures me that they are totally secure and I see no reason to doubt them. They are a not for profit organization and by donating through this page you can make sure that the National Brain Appeal will get gift aid on your donation. Basically this means that George Osbourne will personally match 25% of your contribution.

NEWS FLASH: I fell over and cut my knee rather badly while out training. I was hoping I might still be able to walk it, but my doctor insists that I don't even try. Alice will be running it on my behalf and I promise to run another marathon ASAP. Let me know if this isn't OK, the charity is still getting every penny.

NEWS FLASH: 5 weeks later and I'm up and running again. I'll be running the Lakeland Trails Marathon on July 3rd - so if you haven't sponsored me yet, don't worry there is still plenty of time!
