My story

[p]I only started running less than ten years ago when one of my congregation in Skopje suggested forming a group to train for the Skopje Half Marathon. We trained together and ran it together and towards the end Simon said to me "I think you have a marathon in you John". For days afterwards I kept repeating "never again". However, one half marathon led to another four in Skopje and then in Yerevan. Always at the back of my mind was this niggling image of the London Marathon. And so it happened that in early 2018 I submitted my entry online and then spent the next six months convincing myself that I had no chance of being picked out through the lottery.[/p][p]However, in October I received the dreaded email telling me "Congratulations, you're in!" So, here we are. I'm training, trying to build up stamina to fulfil my dream. Please share my dream; I want to raise money for two causes that I believe passionately in. The first is to fight against cancer and to mitigate the pain of those who are affected by it, and the second is to support and sustain my beloved parish where God has called me to be priest. Supporting cancer research and relief has been one of my life's priorities ever since we lost two of dad's brothers, first my Uncle Peter and then my Uncle George, far too soon. I have selected Macmillan Cancer Support after speaking with many parishioners who know first hand the reality of the dreaded C word. My parish is Buxted and Hadlow Down. Every time I go out training and every step of the journey next 28th April will be for my parish and for those who dedicate their lives to fighting cancer.[/p][p]If you wish to sponsor me then this is the page. If you do, thank you from all my heart![/p]
