[p][u]2 WEEKS TO GO![/u][/p][p]Dear All[/p][p]First of all thank you so much for all the wonderful donations which has taken us to a massive fund raising campaign of over £25,000 and £27,000 respectively with Gift Aid...brilliant! [/p][p]Its been a good week, with the team tapering down from the mighty long runs of previous weeks to a mere 13 or 14 miles...easy![/p][p]Kev is still nursing his shin splint issues but thankfully restored some confidence with a solid 13 miler yesterday. [/p][p]Brad put in his fastest run of the training schedule ( over distance), so must now be confident of both completing the course and running a good time.[/p][p]Greg and Jackie both put in solid performances on Saturday with 14 miles completed without complaint, so its looking like they are ready for the big day on the 28th April.[/p][p]Team SO are ready, so barring any problems in the next 2 weeks.....it will be over, enjoy it while you can.[/p][p]Also a special mention to Lisa Culverhouse ( Kevs sister in law) and Helen Scott ( my wife) who are also raising money for the same charity and both closing in if not past their targets off 2k which is a fantastic achievement....well done girls![/p][p]1 week 6 days to go ![/p][p]Best wishes [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][i][br][/i][/p][p][b][i]Thanks all for your fantastic donations. [/i][/b][/p][p][b][i] We have received some great support this week and a great boost for us in readiness for the largest run of the training schedule albeit we have to do the same again next week ( 2 x 20 miles)…deep joy![/i][/b][/p][p][b][i] Nothing too much has changed, so Kev still has shin splints, Brad is a Dad and coping with 2 hours a night, Jackie has been under the weather but then smashed out an easy 18 miler last weekend (out of nowhere) and Greg and myself have added a few beers into the training schedule/diet…not a good idea but at this stage with just over 5 weeks to go, you feel you need something.[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i] Anyway, we are getting nearer to the day and essentially only 3 more big runs and then it starts to taper down.[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Update 2: ( 4th March)[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i][i]" Don't stop when your tired, Stop when you are DONE!"[/i][/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]A few weeks have gone by and the SO team are well advanced in their training with everyone over 200 miles completed thus far, only another 250-300 to go...easy eh![/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Greg and Jackie are bounding forward with marginal improvements week on week so all looking good at this stage for them.[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]After a brief illness Brad is back on track having run 16 miles this Saturday but it wasn't an easy run, hopefully next week he feels better and always remember that you have good and bad weeks along the way.[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Kevin's training plan for last Saturday required a solid 14 mile run but like Brad it wasn't easy having been away for Half Term week (despite running 30 miles on holiday) and the fact that he is running with what appears to be Shin splints ( not nice) . This has been since confirmed this morning by our local Sports physiotherapist. Anyway, it would be easy for Kev to dip out at this point but is planning to run this evening and then after this will possibly look at some alternative fitness regimes to keep him moving in the right direction but at the same time giving his injuries a mild rest.[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Well done Team SO....keep the mind strong and make sure your own worst enemy doesn't live between your own 2 ears.[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Cometh the hour![/i][/b][i] [/i][/p][p][i][br][/i][/p][p][i]Update 1: ( 5th February) - [/i][/p][p][i][i]"Strength doesn't come from what you can do. Strength comes from overcoming the things you thought you couldn't ".[/i][/i][/p][p][i][i]Team SO are well underway in their training having carried out over a 100 miles in the month of January and many more on the training schedule for February. Just under 400 to go on the 500 mile road trip which is roughly what it takes to hit the magic date on the 28th April.[/i][/i][/p][p][i][i]Keep on moving Team SO and remember " its a marathon not a sprint". You have also reached a magical 10k in fund raising thus far, so well done![/i][/i][/p][p][i][i]JS[/i][/i][/p][p][i][br][/i][/p]
