My story

[p]Most people know that I've run for a while now. Not particularly quickly, but I run nevertheless. About a year ago I was lucky enough to be picked by Ageas to participate in my first Triathlon. Most people know that too because, well, I've talked about it rather a lot.[/p][p]The experience was amazing, and whilst the thought of swimming a mile in the sea scared me (doing a length in the pool at the start was bad enough), it did get me thinking. I'd heard about Ironman before, and the more I trained and read, the more I started wondering whether it was something I could accomplish. For those who don't know, an Ironman Triathlon consists of the following:-[/p][p]2.4 Mile Sea Swim. 112 Mile Bike Ride. 26.2 Mile Full Marathon. In that order, consecutively, in under 15:45 hours.[/p][p]I'll be starting by doing a Half Ironman (which strangely is half the above distance) in Lisbon with some colleagues from work in Ageas on 24th May. This gives me a further 3 months to build up to the full distance in Copenhagen.[/p][p]I've chosen Copenhagen because I love the place, we have friends out there, and it was a bit of a selling point to Carly when I was trying to explain the vast amount of training required and time I would be out of the house. The fact that the bike leg is relatively flat is a bit of a bonus too. [/p][p]So it's gonna be a real challenge, and any support or donations that you can make to this great cause will help me through.[/p][p]Once the Ironman is complete, I'll be finishing off by running the London Marathon. [/p][p]All of this will be done for Rays of Sunshine, a wonderful charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill young people and their families by granting wishes and providing ongoing support in hospital and within the community.[/p]

Jon, Well done mate. This money was left in the cabinet at work from the tuck shop taking from the Premier Service Manager team. So I'm donating it on behalf of the team so it goes to a great cause. Cheers from (former) HSBC Premier Team in Whiteley.
