[p]Hi,[/p][p]Thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]I've done the Malvern Midsummer Marathon twice before: 2013 in 7 hours 28 minutes and 2014 in 6 hours 54 minutes. This year I'm aiming to do it in 6 hours and 30 minutes and finish in the first 25%. For comparison the fastest person is usually between 4 hours and 4 hours 30 minutes.[/p][p]Why such a long time compared to a "normal" road marathon? Simply put it's cross country, has 4400 feet of ascent and is a personal challenge event, not a race - there is no "winner". You really can help motivate me to go faster by sponsoring me![/p][p]The start up the Old Wyche Road is really steep, see the video from 2013 here, and the overall profile gives you a sense of the hilliness:[/p][p][lt]img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://applecrumbleandcustard.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Profile.jpg" alt="Malvern Midsummer Marathon profile" width="400" height="100" /[gt][/p][p]My favourite fact would be that there is more ascent from where I parked my car in 2014 to the starting point of the event than in the whole of the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon![/p][p]Others have made videos of the whole event, here's one from 2012.[/p][p]Now the blurb:[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p][p] I really appreciate your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Jonathan.[/p]
