My story

[p]Ryan Bresnahan died on 31st March 2010 of Meningitis B, at the age of 16 years old. He was a fit, healthy, caring, funny, gorgeous young man, full of personality and an accomplished sportsman. In the words of his mother, Michelle, he simply took her breath away. Meningitis is one of the most infectious and devastating of diseases which took Ryan’s life within an hour - his family had no notice or time to say goodbye.[/p][p]”a Life for a Cure” was founded as a legacy to Ryan and is raising funds towards vital vaccine research, campaigning for greater vaccine take-up and raising awareness of the diseases symptoms. This charity is run purely on a voluntary basis. Every penny raised goes towards the charities causes. It is simply about working together to ensure other young lives are not lost to Meningitis. It was always the aim of this charity that some good must come from Ryan’s loss. [/p][p]I have had my children vaccinated against Meningitis. This is the result of Michelle’s valuable work. Ryan is making a difference. But we can together do more. In some small way this event and fund raising effort will help the charity further its aims. Your support is crucial. [/p][p]I am leading a group of three female British women on the Amundsen expedition. This is a 100km race pulling a 40kg plus pulk, carrying all our own equipment and food. It is a self sufficient race across the Hardangervidda in Norway. Amundsen himself failed to complete this crossing as extreme weather conditions forced him to abandon his attempt. We will be the first British female team to do this, motivated by this great charitable cause. [/p]

What an inspiration you are Josephine! My cousin lost his only daughter at 2 years old to this disease, suddenly and without warning, and still feels her loss keenly 20 years later. A wonderful cause to be raising money for. Best of luck!
