My story

[p]Hi, Thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]I have decided to join my sister and challenge ourselves to 80,000 steps a week for the whole of July! I know it doesn't sound like much but to those who know me and know how lazy I am know I'm absolutely dreading it! Ha![/p][p]We have decided to do it to be able to raise some money for the amazing charity CMV Action! This charity is such a special charity to us and it would mean the world for us to be able to raise as much money as we can to help them continue to do the amazing work they do![/p][p]In 2014 we found out our little girl Eloise was completely deaf in her left ear and her vision wasn't as good as it should of been. After further testing it was discovered that I had contracted Congenital Cytomegalovirus whilst pregnant with Eloise, which is a virus if caught during pregnancy and passed on to the unborn baby can have devastating effects! In the UK, Its estimated that one to two babies in every 200 will be born with congenital CMV. Of these, about 13% will have problems at birth, such as hearing loss and learning difficulties with a similar number developing problems later on. [/p][p]Eloise makes us so proud every single day and just keeps going no matter what is thrown at her! She continues to have therapy weekly but she has exceeded in every expectation! We count ourselves extremely lucky as we know we could be sharing a very different story and this is why we wanted to do this for CMV Action, by sharing our story this will help spread awareness! [/p][p]Moneys raised can go towards educating midwives through CMV Action iLearning programme, supporting families affected by the virus and support important research.[/p][p]I will share photos on here and on my Facebook page of my progress through the month.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
