My story

[p][br][/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Joel is now 6 years old, cheeky, loveable and most of the time enjoying life but now aware that he is poorly. Just before his 3rd birthday Joel was diagnosed with Duchennes muscular dystrophy. Words cannot describe how devastated we are that our beautiful son has this incurable/ terminal disease. The only hope for Joel and the hundreds of boys that have Duchennes is that researchers have a breakthrough in time. Things have moved on massively this last year and researchers have made promising advances but we are still years away from anything that will help. Joel is now following a predetermined path, his muscles in his legs will waste first and he will need a wheel chair by adolescence and then other muscles will waste thereafter. Eventually his heart and lungs will fail and we will lose our Joel cutting his life way to short. We have decided to fundraise as we want to raise funds for Joel so that we can get the equipment he'll require make adaptations to our home so that Joel can live as mobile and as independently as possible for as long as he can. We also want to contribute to the research of Duchennes and raise awareness, we would also like to give Joel and us some memories along the way and bring a little Joy for Joel. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me for events we will be having for Joel (check back for details) or you can make donations. They will be quickly processed and passed to Life for a kid for Joel. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donation[/p][p] [/p]
