My story

[p]Anyone that knows me, knows I have never been a runner! I have always opted for walking, often very long hikes, but only ever walking...until now![/p][p]I am lucky to work for an amazing little charity that helps local families with young children that are struggling. Last year we became a local sponsor for the Reading Half Marathon and I was very inspired by my lovely colleague Marion, who had never been a runner before, but went on to complete the run and raised lots of money for Home-Start. I decided that it was time for me to step outside my comfort zone and give this running lark a go! I got off to a good start but then my ego took over and I over did it! The result - shin splints, ouch! Still feeling determined, I am doing lots of strengthening exercises, started all over again with much shorter runs and I WILL do this! [/p][p]I would be SO grateful if you could spare a few pennies to sponsor me and keep me motivated through the wet, cold and at times quite painful training to help me fulfil my goal to complete my first (and maybe my last) half marathon. Every penny I raise will enable us at Home-Start Reading to keep on helping improve the lives of local families.[/p][p]Thank you![/p][p]Julie x[/p]
