My story

[p]Yes, stop laughing please, the rumours are true. I really am swapping the pub for the pavement and running the London Marathon in April 2018 - just 21 short weeks' time. Why? Mid-life crisis, obviously! (I will be 50 in January). But also, it's been a lifelong dream and I've been lucky enough to have won a place courtesy of an amazing local charity which supports bereaved children.[/p][p]My mission is to raise £50 for every year I've been lucky enough to be on this beautiful planet sharing it with some amazing people. The problem? I haven't run properly for about ten years, I'm overweight, I'm 50, and my bones have started to make alarming cracking and creaking noises. I'm excited, but terrified.[/p][p]I think a challenge should be a challenge, not something I know I can do with my eyes shut – and believe me I've shut my eyes tight many times since being accepted to run for Nelson's Journey! If you sponsor me you're putting your faith in my stubbornness, you're endorsing the fact that I'm NOT an old woman, I'm a young woman who's freaking out a little about hitting 50 but that's okay and I'll by with a little help from my amazing friends and family (and my special mates Voltarol and Nurofen) and you're saying "Hell, yeah, girl!"[/p][p]Please dig deep. Not only will you be sustaining me as I pound the streets worrying about people asking me if I need a doctor but, much more importantly, you will be supporting an amazing organisation which supports children and young people who've experienced the death of a significant person in their life. They're a small charity and every single penny they raise is reinvested into supporting bereaved children and families in Norfolk. Incredibly, every 22 minutes, a child in Britain loses a parent. They do such valuable work and I'm really chuffed to be given the chance to help them so directly and spread the word about how brilliant and much-needed they are.[/p][p]You can find out more about their work here: facebook.com/nelsonsjourney.norfolk or nelsonsjourney.org.uk[/p][p]Thank you so so much! Love you all xxxxx[/p]
