My story

[p]Update: 15/9/21 - Unfortunately due to injury (torn tendon :-( ) I have had to withdraw from the marathon. With just 3 weeks to go - I nearly made it !! If you still would like to donate that would be amazing and the school would really appreciate it...... thanks, Karen[/p][p]---------------------------------------------------------------[/p][p][br][/p][p]On 3rd October I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for my son’s school. Fraser attends Moor House School & College , a Registered Charity and a Non-Maintained Special School for students aged 7-19 whose primary barrier to learning is Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). [/p][p][br][/p][p]DLD is just as common as autism yet few people know about it. It is a hidden disability that affects approximately 2 children in every classroom affecting literacy, learning, friendships and emotional wellbeing.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Evidence continues to grow that shows that the Coronavirus pandemic has highlighted and exacerbated educational inequalities. Now, more than ever, Moor House must remain at the forefront of special needs education and build fit for purpose facilities to ensure that the students thrive in adulthood despite the increased challenges they face. Your donation will directly help support the building of their new Therapy Hub. As well as raising much needed funding I am also hoping to raise awareness of DLD. Fraser is one of the lucky ones, many more children get overlooked.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Moor House is at the forefront of global research and training in the field of speech and language disabilities, taking the benefits of the work undertaken here out more widely in the UK and globally through training courses and resources for professionals. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Many thanks for your support . [/p][p]Karen [/p]
