My story

[p]Well, where do I start?! I was watching the London Marathon this year, sat on my sofa, hungover, after partying the night before πŸ€•(it's my birthday weekend).. and I just thought, next year, that's gonna be me..not this person sat here feeling like s**t... so I entered there and then. I felt pretty safe as so many people apply and few are successful, but I'd made the effort so that was that. Then I started thinking about what charity I'd like to run for and the obvious choice for me was Compassion in World Farming. I've raised money for them before and feel passionate about the plight of farm animals; if we're going to eat them, the least we can do is give them a good life first. So I applied for a charity place with them as well...still feeling pretty safe it wasn't going to happen as they'd never had a London Marathon place either. ...but I'd made the effort. [/p][p]As most of you probably know, I wasn't a runner. I literally couldn't run up the stairs! ...Seriously .. but I made a start with the none to run plan. I couldn't even face the couch to 5k! ..but I started plodding on along the beach with my trusted friend Hector at the beginning of the summer. Every time I went out, I hated every minute of it, my mind torturing my thoughts, my muscles screaming in shock.. **** is going on? How can something so natural to us be so painful both mentally and physically? Was I really that unfit?! 😬 ..but something inside of me said keep going, you'll get there...so I did.[/p][p]I have now finished the couch to 5k (25/11/19)and am going solo.. well not really, I'm still running with the group, just venturing out on my own too; with Alfie Bear now as Hector prefers his pitπŸ™„... it's still really hard, I don't know if that ever changes, I'll let you know, but I can run 4 miles now! (Only 22 to go 😳).. but I'm still going.. physically I feel stronger, mentally after the run I feel great, but during, I'm still torturing myself, I'm not sure why, but it fascinates me how the mind works and affects our wellbeing. That's the biggest hurdle for me,I know physically I can train my muscles to run, but can I train my mind? πŸ€” We'll see.. [/p][p]So that's my story so far. I would really appreciate your support, donations, running tips, positive vibes, kind thoughts.. take a look on the ciwf website.. if you made one positive change to your meat/dairy consumption, in support of the farm animals, that would be the best contribution for me.. [/p][p]I shall keep you up to date on my progress and thank you for reading my story.[/p][p]God speed and a bit of love ❀? n peace ✌? [/p][p][br][/p]
