[p][br][/p][p]Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.[/p][p]I am very excited to be running my first (and most probably last!) ever marathon for a charity very close to my heart. [/p][p]Collectively hospices in the UK provide vital care to 200,000 people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses every year, as well as providing support for many of their loved ones. Hospice UK work closely with hospices throughout the country to support their vital work and to create a stronger voice for hospice care. Sadly hospice care receives limited government funding and still relies heavily on community support to maintain the high quality care it delivers. [/p][p]Over the last 8 years I have had the privilege of working for St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth. I see each and every day the very essence of hospice care and how the support, comfort and hope it brings can truly help those through some of the most difficult of times. I have worked with some of the most professional & compassionate of people who go above and beyond to deliver the very best care possible. Care that supports people to be themselves for as long possible. [/p][p]I feel very thankful to have been able to support so many patients over the last 8 years, the memories of which will last a lifetime. I feel humbled to have witnessed many times over the very great strength, determination, bravery and spirit that is possible. My journey around London will pale in comparison to those I have cared for but I hope for one of the biggest physical and mental challenges I have undertaken I can draw upon them to help me when I need it most. [/p][p]So as I prepare to huff and puff my way around London, if I can raise awareness of the amazing work taking place and a little toward the lots of funding needed to continue to improve access & great care for those who need it most, I will recuperate a little easier! [/p][p]I am incredibly grateful if you are able to spare a few pennies to support hospice care, every donation counts and do please feel free to suggest a favourite song of yours to add into my training playlist to spur me on for those cold & rainy days! [/p][p]Update: 08.04.19[/p][p]Training peak reached. Last long run before the big day completed today which was a tad emotional. Taper begins now..phew. 19 days to go. So pleased to have made it this far with body intact. [/p][p]Thank you everyone, your support is really helping me remember why I’m doing this. [/p][p][br][/p]
