My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. As part of my 'mid life crisis' I am going to sail around the world and in the process hope to raise much needed funds for two charities I wholeheartedly support.[/p][p]I have been involved with Frensham Pond Sailability for the past two summers as a volunteer, primarily as a 'buddy' taking sailors out onto the pond, but also shore based getting boats prepared, sailors kitted out and working on the jetty. The charity encourages people with disabilities or long term illness to learn to sail and to enjoy the freedom on the water that they might not experience elsewhere in their lives.  Open to both children and adults, those that want to race and those that just want to potter, FPS operates during the summer months between April and October down at Frensham Pond in Surrey.[/p][p]Ocean Stars Trust has been a significant part of my life since being set up in 2005.  As well as being involved in the child sponsorship programme I am both Trustee and Treasurer.  Ocean Stars Trust is a small Fleet based charity that works within the very poor communities of eastern and northern Sri Lanka that have been affected by the 2004 Tsunami and the 25 year civil war.  The charity supports children through sponsorship programmes that help with education, pay and train nursery teachers as well as encouraging self sufficiency within the fishing community, sewing projects etc. [/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]

Welcome back and well done! Sorry not to be seeing you at the end, having followed UNICEF's progress avidly - it's been fascinating. See you soon, we hope.
