My story

[p]Thank you for visiting our page. We're taking on this incredible challenge to fundraise in support of Mind. [/p][p]As some of you will know we have both struggled with depression and anxiety including needing to take time off work. Over the years our experience of understanding and support from health professionals, employers and others has been mixed with some being excellent and some leaving a lot to be desired. We see this challenge as our opportunity to be able to support Mind in continuing to raise awareness of mental health issues, enabling people to talk openly and honestly with their families, friends, colleagues and employers and providing practical support to those experiencing mental health issues.[/p][p]Over the last couple of years running has been a powerful tool to help us deal with our anxiety and depression but there have also been times when our mental health has made it really difficult to just get out of bed. As well as running the London Marathon in April we have also just completed the Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World in Florida. For those of you that aren't fed up of hearing us talk about it, this involved running a 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon over 4 consecutive days. Running Dopey and the London Marathon is our opportunity to give back and, as corny and clichéd as it sounds, run for those who currently can't. [/p][p]Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and for donating. Your support is hugely appreciated and please do share our story to help us raise as much money for Mind as possible. Remember it is ok not to be ok and if you think a chat with us to hear more about what helps us would help you or someone you know, please get in touch.[/p][p]If you want to know more about Mind, here's what they say: [/p][p]Mind are the mental health charity. We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We're here for you. Today. Now. Whether you're stressed, depressed or in crisis. We'll listen, give support and advice, and fight your corner.[/p][p]We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.[/p][p]Watch this short video to find out more.[/p][p]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPxHTZRwXX8[/p][p]This is what your donation could do:[/p][p]£10 could allow us to send essential information booklets about mental health to 40 people.[/p][p]£40 could pay for 28 people to campaign for change on our behalf.[/p][p]£70 could keep our online community, Elefriends, open and safe for two hours. [/p][p]£120 could offer a lifeline to eight people in desperate need of support from our Mind legal line.[/p][p]£200 could help us keep the Mind Infoline open for 1 hour, helping 35 people.[/p][p]£300 could support a young person bereaved by suicide to access 1:1 and group support. [/p][p]£550 could provide five people struggling with their mental health a place in a 10-week wellbeing group with team sports and cookery.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Mind. [/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p]
