My story

[lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Hello all[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 14px;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 14px;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]I am over the moon to be running the London Marathon for Best Beginnings, part of the Heads Together campaign, spear headed by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. This is the official charity of the 2017 London Marathon.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 14px;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Best beginnings is a wonderful charity that [span=font-kerning: none;]supports parents in giving their children the best start in life.[/span] It [span=font-kerning: none;]focuses on the period between conception and a child’s third birthday, where the foundations of a healthy and fulfilling life are laid. [/span]I feel I have an affinity with the charity as I have a 2 year old daughter and Best Beginnings have been a font of help and information since Ginny was born. [/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]In 2013 i suffered from a small bout of depression and anxiety. I am an Actor and I would say that i was used to rejection and the sense the "The Business" as a difficult one to forge a successful career in. Too long i had let it define me and my happiness. So i decided, No More! I am used to speaking to large groups of people, sometimes thousands, but at the same time it is always behind the mask of a "character", so when social anxiety reared it's head it was quite a shock. I was very good a putting on a persona for auditions, meetings and parties. But on the inside i was always shy, anxious and overly worried about what people thought about me. It even came to the point that i was avoiding seeing friends and distancing myself from those i loved the most.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]I was able to recognise my depression quite quickly as friends and family had suffered from both depression and Post Natal Depression. Being something that i knew a bit about i took myself to the doctor and was given a course of CBT and i took up swimming as a way of excercising my troubles away. After a while I was beginning to feel like i had really got on top of my feelings through the CBT and regular exercise. [/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Later in 2013 my husband and I found out that we were having a baby and were both over the moon! Having just dealt with my depression i was hyper aware that Post Natal Depression might be on the horizon. Having such a wonderful husband we both talked it through and i was busy with work (which doesn't always happen for a pregnant actress!), so things were looking up and we looked forward to the future.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]I think having this awareness of post natal depression really helped me avoid it. I had a good support network and had learnt skills to help deal with my anxieties, making sure that i went to all the mummy groups rather than avoiding them. [/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Now i have decided to run the London Marathon for Best Beginnings, helping all those other families who deal with PND on a daily basis as so many of my friends and family have. [span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;]Best Beginnings make it one of their main aims to help parents deal with this issues. [/span]Still to this day i use techniques taught to me by CBT and i am enjoying the marathon training for the sense of mental well being that it gives me. Even through all the sore knees, ankles and cold weather runs i feel good about myself, what i am doing with my life, and feel able to face the world![/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 14px;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]I would be eternally grateful if you would sponsor me while I embark on the next few months of craziness. I have always wanted to run the London Marathon for my own personal sense of achievement but I am overwhelmed to be running it for such a worthy cause.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 14px;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Many Many thanks[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica;"[gt]Katie. xxx[/p]
