My story

[p]In April 2019, I will be running the London Marathon. I will be taking this opportunity to fundraise for 2 charities- MIND, and Saint Michael's Hospice- both of which mean a lot to me, and the money will be split between them. [/p][p]I have chosen to raise money for Saint Michael's Hospice as it is a local charity which is very close to my heart, and have helped and supported many families across Harrogate, including my own. They help to improve the lives of people affected by terminal illness, both those living with these conditions and their families and carers. Saint Michael's have really helped support my family over the past few years since my Grandad sadly passed away in December 2014, and I would love to raise as much as I can for this charity so they can continue the amazing work they do.[/p][p]I have also chosen to fundraise for MIND, as it is also very important to me. It is a national charity who provide advice and support to help anyone experiencing a mental health problem, whilst also raising awareness and promoting understanding about it. This cause needs improving and awareness around it need to be raised. Nearly 800,000 people die due to suicide every year. 3 in 100 people suffer with depression. 6 in 100 people suffer with anxiety. As someone who suffers myself, I know how draining having a mental illness really is, and having the right support there to help you is vital. Therefore, MIND is my second chosen charity- as I’d love to give something to help the life changing work they do across the country.[/p][p]I am taking part in this challenge to give myself some motivation - something to get up for on a morning- and a challenge I need to focus on when I'm having the worst of days. I would love it if you could sponsor me and donate to these incredible causes. This will be the biggest challenge of my life and I would love every bit of support I can get! My aim is to raise as much money as I can, whilst I prepare and train for the marathon. Thank you - every little bit helps!![/p]
