Brentwood Half Marathon

[p]As part of my year of embracing turning 50 and giving back to charities which have been involved in my son Aiden's journey, I will be running the Brentwood Half Marathon to raise funds for REACH RDA and Hippotherapy.[/p][p]Aiden has been attending REACH since January 2016 when he was a tiny 18 month old, the therapy here is different to anything else he does. The 3 dimensional movement of the horse help to improve Aiden's balance, core strength and head control. When Aiden started at REACH he hadn't been able to roll over for several months as he'd lost this skill due to his increasing tone, after his first session on the horse we came home and he rolled over and to this day hasn't stopped.[/p][p]Aiden unknowlingly benefits in many ways from his Hippotherapy sessions, not only are they working on his physical development, he works on his speech, cognition and social interactions with a range of people. The sessions also have a calming effect as there is an unspoken connection between animal and child. We love that these sessions are outside (weather dependent) and it makes a change to being in a physiotherapy studio.[/p][p]As you all know I'm not a natural runner and I don't find these runs easy, any donation, big or small will help to motivate me and keep me going.[/p][p]I've set my target to £500 which will help REACH purchase a new sheepskin saddle and some new rainbow reins, new equipment such as cones and hoops and also recorded buttons used in the reach session for aid the child's communication.[/p]
